This is one of the more controversial books I have read. The thesis of it is that Senator Joseph McCarthy, the infamous name behind McCarthyism, has been wrongly maligned by history, and was in fact correct in his assertions. Upon first glance this book might seem like revisionism. But if you give this book a fair read and look into its sources you will find a stronger argument than you thought you would find.
As part of my Middle East/Islamic History phase I came across “Power, Faith, and Fantasy” by Michael Oren. This is an excellent history of US-Middle East relations from the time of the revolution to today.
